Contract has been trying to get into her legal briefs for months, but choosing the Sector Guard over her friends and family is a no-brainer for Sekhara.

Life counseling the abused and grieving has worn on her nerves, so when she is offered life in the Sector Guard once again, Sekhara jumps at the chance. After some heated negotiations, Contract and Counsel begin life as partners with Counsel’s pet, Maxi, along for the ride. They find a lost Terran, get blasted across the universe, and have to be rescued by a member of Udell base, and that is just Counsel’s first day…

What kind of a career is it when you have to keep your hands off your partner while you fight for your life?

Years of settling petty disputes and imagined abuses have worn Sekhara Noor out. She's been offered a position with the Sector Guard before, and turned it down, but if they ask again, she's ready to go.

At a holiday party on Wyora, Criton Ethyn once again approaches her with the offer of a new and exciting life with the Guard. Sekhara is unique, as the only long-range telepath known, and her services as a confidential counselor to the Guard will be invaluable. When paired with Criton, the sharpest legal mind in the universe, they will make an unbeatable team. Sekhara needs to bond to someone to stay grounded and Criton is ready and willing to serve as her anchor. Sekhara brings her bonded pet along as well. Maxi is like nothing seen before, able to change size at will, and more than able to protect Sekhara when Criton isn't around. Can Contract and Counsel bring balance and peace to the Sector Guard? These three bonded partners will have to work to fit in on their new base. Will they even survive their first mission?

Seal the Deal is Viloa Grace’s twenty-fourth Sector Guard adventure. Sekhara and Criton are the last new pair of guardsmen to join the group. This world is every bit as fresh and fascinating as it was at the beginning. Ms. Grace continues to combine unique races with terran descendants to create wonderful characters in new and unusual locales. There are some old faces here as well, to round out the cast of characters. I liked the introduction of Maxi, a nylander, bonded to Sekhara and willing to do what it takes to love and protect her. Maxi becomes a force to be reckoned with in this, and proves her worth quite well.

Sekhara Noor, or Counsel, is the most talented telepath ever seen. She's strong, determined and has a cheeky attitude toward the man she will partner with when she joins Sector Guard. She's smart, sassy, very courageous, and quick-witted in an emergency. Sekhara wants Criton, but on her terms, not his. She knows just how to play him to get her way. I like Sekhara, for her strength and her no nonsense attitude.

Criton Ethyn, or Contract, is the contract specialist for Sector Guard. As the greatest legal mind known, he's able to form airtight contracts. Criton is handsome and courageous, yet willing to let his woman take the reins when necessary. I love that he has waited years for Sekhara to make her decision, and still has the patience to wait for her. I apprecited his loyalty and devotion to Sekhara.

This is a romance, an adventure, and a thriller all set in one of Ms. Grace’s fantastic worlds. When a new and unseen threat surfaces, it's up to the team to unite to try and track it down. There are several surprises in this one, and one really big revelation of how things will get worse for the Guard before they get better. I recommend this for those who enjoy their romance set in futuristic and unusual places, with a myriad of special effects and lots of fun thrown in.
