She will protect him at all costs, even if it means her life.

Black Opals, Book 2

Undercover, deep in the heart of enemy territory, Lily Black has been charged with a mission: guard the life of Kerr Strome.

Like her warrior sisters, the Black Opals, Lily is a time traveller who shifts wherever she’s needed. She’ll do whatever it takes to foil an assassination attempt on Kerr by The New Order. There’s only one way to fly under his radar: pose as a man.

Kerr Strome is a warrior with his back to the wall. His planet is in chaos, his life threatened at every turn. The safe evacuation of his people from their war-ravaged planet depends entirely on his team of elite soldiers—and their ability to lie low for the next few days. The holding pattern might make him crazy, except for the intriguing new team member. A small soldier with big-time fighting skills, and something extra Kerr can’t quite figure out.

When Lily intercepts a New Order assassin—and a bullet meant for Kerr—her cover isn’t all that’s blown. Their pent-up desire reveals a bitter truth. The reason Kerr is marked for death? He is Lily’s destined mate. And the only way to save his life is to give her own.

Lily Black has only one objective – to find and protect Kerr Strome at all costs. And it’s not turned out to be quite as easy as she’d hoped. One stubborn man working with one determined woman makes for one exciting story! Picking up after Black Legacy left off, Black Destiny continues the story of the Black Opals and the time-traveling sisters defending against the New Order.

Lily is my favorite kind of character. She’s a completely in-control, take-no-prisoners sort of woman and yet, she’s not overbearing or annoying. It’s a fine line between having a strong heroine and having one that’s just not nice to deal with. In addition to this, she is dedicated to her mission. Nothing is going to stop her from completing it. Lily is also selfless in the pursuit of her goal; Kerr comes first no matter what.

Kerr is your typical career military man. He’s strong, handsome and determined. However, despite the chaos he’s living in, and the fact that he’s responsible for practically the entire planet’s safety, he holds it together well. I think he’d be a great leader in real life with his self-assured demeanor and his honest concern for not just his team, but those he’s sworn to protect. He’d make a wonderful mate for any woman, even if he was a bit difficult at times.

This second short in the Black Opals series answers questions raised in the first as well as instilling a deep desire to learn about the other sisters lurking in the shadows. Ms. Stone has created an exciting and interesting world and populated it with intriguing characters that you can’t help but love. When you read Black Destiny you get it all – engaging story, awesome characters, a bit of steamy romance, and an all-around great novel.
