Penobscot Bay is the perfect place for romance. Pippa has more than her share of suitors. But who will win her heart? The answer seems clear as her feelings for best friend Jake begin to change. But when a handsome stranger checks into the Samoset Hotel, all bets are off!

A tight unpredictable plot makes Reservation Required a standout. Lovely Pippa has waited for love – and all the time, was it right in front of her? Was best friend Jake the man for her? Jake is such a dreamy guy, we wonder how she managed to overlook him – but they’ve got a Friday night date and it just seems like anything could happen. If they are planning a big night – is this like, The Night? Or is this just a sort of special date?

Then all bets are off. A Mr. Allen Kelly marches into The Samoset Hotel and Pippa goes all to pieces getting him registered. He’s not dreamy – he is demanding. Pippa sees him as mysterious, but we readers were already more than warmed up to Jake! We start worrying before Mr. Kelly is even well on his way to his room, that Pippa will let him turn her head.

Events are unexpected, and Poor Pippa, torn between the two, doesn’t swing back and forth any more than the reader does! And few people are exactly as they seem. To say more would be too much of a spoiler: fair to say that this is gripping, evocative, and a beyond-fun read.

The early 20th century – and Maine – combine to make a somewhat off the beaten-path historical backdrop to this gem of a tale. A must-read for your list.
