Best Friends or True Love? Only Santa Knows.

All I Want For Christmas is a delightful holiday romp. This has everything from tinsel to Secret Santa, but with fresh, unpredictable characters and a bit of an odd perspective.

The romance and delight in the winter season seems to have missed grumpy Kathryn Graham completely. Her complete opposite, Nick Pringle adores the snow and the ice, and all the glitter of the Christmas décor. Worse, he wants her to share his enjoyment. A modern day Scrooge, Kathryn rejects the very idea – just like the too intimate (and accidental) encounter with Nick leaves her only annoyed.

In fact, nearly everything leaves her annoyed, from Santa’s greeting to garlands, lights, and reindeer. She makes a tiny exception for chocolates.

Stuck with the toy drive story for the magazine’s Christmas Edition, and stuck with Nick too, apparently, Kathryn’s tolerance of the holidays sink to a whole new low. Only, a twist in her everyday routine confuses her, as does Nick’s increasing attention. Her response to a new aggravation of writing a ‘puff piece,’ is just too funny, too say nothing of her puzzlement at the first of the Secret Santa’s. Kathryn struggles are fun to read, for the same reason its fun to watch “The Grinch.” You know she’s going to come a cropper somewhere, but exactly how and when is unpredictable. The story has a lot of unpredictable elements, adding enormously to the overall humor. And it has a delightful and funny leading man, who you will be rooting for from the very first pages.

It doesn’t have to be Christmas to enjoy the romance of the holidays: Do read, “All I Want For Christmas.”
