Kayla goes to Hawaii looking for an escape from her divorce and impending thirtieth birthday. She gets an awakening of a gift of dreamed foresight her grandmother claimed to have, and Kayla had always shunned. When Kayla dreams of her destined lover, she desperately wants to harness this newfound gift. But can she use what she has ignored for so long ignored? If she finds him, will she be able to claim him, or has she strayed so far from her destined path that her dreamed ending will never come true?
Kayla is visiting her long-time friend, Shelly, when her dreams begin. She’s never believed in her grandmother’s tales of dreamed destinies, but she wishes her dream lover were real.
The author gave just enough description and background on this part of the story to draw me in without overdoing the backstory. Then, once Kayla arrives in Hawaii, the story shoots into light speed. Tyrone, Kayla’s dream lover, turns out to be real. The added conflict that occurs at this point is great, but I wish the author had slowed the resolution a little. I think it could have been prolonged a little bit -– even in a short story.
All of the characters, main and secondary, were nicely developed. We receive a decent amount of back story on them, making them seem realistic and quite likeable. The overall plot was nicely developed, but could have been tweaked a tiny bit in one or two places.
Dreamed Destiny is a quick, but satisfying read. It’s a sensual romance that will bring a smile to your face and proves that love truly does conquer all.
