A perfect love sought through the centuries…an ancient evil sworn to prevent it at all costs.

Don’t series, Book 2

Aithne has spent her life living for her brother. Now that he’s found his twin flame, she’s free from her duty as his familiar. She plans to relish every moment—and search for a soulmate of her own who will match the longing that burns in her heart. For now, a traveling carnival looks like the perfect vehicle to find the adventure she craves. Starting with the carnival’s handsome and enigmatic owner.

Milcham Phoenix hides a secret behind the carnival’s dazzling distractions. As the only creature in Paradise who didn’t fall into sin, he is unique…and lonely. For centuries he has searched for the one woman whose beauty, spirit and passion tempt him to open his heart. No one has come close—until Aithne.

The fire within them burns out of control. But before they have the courage to share their true feelings with each other, evil attacks, and painful secrets are exposed. Truth is the one thing that will overcome an ancient enemy…and the one thing their love may not survive.

The Phoenix: legendary being that rises from the ashes to be reborn over and over again. The only being that never succumbed to the temptation of the serpent, and blessed of all God’s creatures. Milcham Phoenix has searched for millennia to find that one perfect love, his twin flame. He is nearing the end of the thousand years God gave him to search the world for her, and soon he must go back to his walled city and enter the flames to be once again reborn. But he’s lonely, and the serpent is trying to tempt him to the side of evil. Aithne is free to love, after being her vampire brother’s familiar for a century. She comes to the carnival run by Milcham Phoenix, and becomes the fortuneteller. Milcham first tries to send her away, but soon realizes he is attracted to her-strongly attracted. Is Aithne his long sought after twin flame? And will she risk death in the flames to be his love for all eternity?

Don’t Tempt the Phoenix is CJ England’s second book in the Don’t series, and it is a fantastic reading experience. Ms England creates such beautiful images with words, and her characters are richly detailed and believable. Aithne and Milcham are perfect for each other, and the battle to thwart evil in all its incarnations is a wonderful adventure. The sacrifices that both characters are willing to make for each other are heartfelt and honest, and the mistakes that they make along the way are those that any couple learning about each other are apt to make. I love the subtle twists and hidden jokes that Ms England sneaks into the story, and the ironic twists of fate are fantastic. I would love to visit these characters again, and I was happy to see that we got a glimpse of Aithne’s brother from the first book. The passion that Aithne and Milcham share is hot, and the inventive locations they find for romance are fantastic.

Don’t Tempt the Phoenix is a book I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone wanting a night of love and lust, and be sure to keep the fan on high.
