One phone call changed both their lives.

A real life knight in shining armor, except he isn't in armor he's in a suit. But the first time Lena Douglas lays eyes on Stephan Grayson that's what he seems to her. He saves her from a violence that still haunts her nights, but at least he's there to hold her should she wake. But the nightmare's not over, it stalks them both now. Something from her past that will not let go.

But then neither will Stephan. He saved her once and he's not about to let anyone, especially Lena, stand in the way of what is happening between them.

But will Stephan always be there to shield her from her past?
You stop for a red light and see a violent assault taking place in a nearby apartment. What do you do?

For Stephan there was no choice. He rang the police and despite being told to wait for them to arrive, he went to the woman’s assistance. He was just in time to stop a rape and the police appeared immediately afterward.

Lena was caught in a nightmare. She is grabbed by a man who drags her into her apartment where he tries to rape her. Her knight in shining armor in the shape of Stephan arrives to save her.

After the attack Stephan is reluctant to let the frightened Lena stay alone and he invites her to his penthouse. What was intended to be a one night emergency plan turns into a longer stay when her attacker escapes police custody and trashes her apartment. Stephan and Lena develop strong feelings for each other, but both have reasons to hold off. Stephan does not want to take advantage of the situation and hit on Lena when she’s vulnerable. Lena has been hurt by a previous relationship and has vowed to take it slowly the next time.

Their closeness develops but danger stalks them. The police are at a loss to figure out why Lena’s attacker should continue to try and get to her, but this seems to be the case. Can the couple outrun the stalker, or will he succeed?

Hold On holds the attention through until the end. Both hero and heroine are strong individuals, successful in their business lives but with virtually no social lives. The pair appear to be made for each other, but both keep a strong hold on their feelings, unwilling to run with the moment.

A man who doesn’t take advantage of a woman when she offers herself to him is a rare thing. When Lena wakes the next morning she realizes how fortunate she has been. Underlying the whole story is the threat of the stalker. They don’t know why this man is trying to harm Lena, but Stephan is determined to protect her to the best of his ability. Lena only feels safe when she is with Stephan, but knows she must eventually return to her apartment and continue her life.

I like this story. It started with a bang and the tension continued until the very last page. This is not to say the danger, romance and passion was exaggerated. It didn’t need to be. Everything happened as a natural progression, but with a tension which followed naturally from the circumstances of the initial meeting of the hero and heroine.

Definitely a book to read when you need something to catch and hold your attention.
