Seduction of a Proper Gentleman

To break a centuries-old curse, beautiful, headstrong Lady Kathleen MacDavid knows she must ignore every rule of propriety by seducing—and marrying—the Earl of Norcroft. So she sets off for London, braving scandal and ruin to achieve her goal . . . until a crazy bump on the head makes her forget nearly everything.

The thrill of winning a bet—that he'd be the last of his set to wed—hasn't eased the earl's pain of losing his friends to marriage. Still, he'd be willing to settle down if he could meet someone worthy of his love—and desire. But he has met no such woman, until Kathleen is brought to him. Suspicious of her motives, he's determined to resist her seductive ways. But sometimes even the most proper gentleman finds it expedient to act improperly . . .

I loved this delightful story that involved a romance “five hundred years in the making”. A thwarted marriage, a witches curse and two families looking for a future. Lady Kathleen MacDavid decides to take matters into her own hands and try to end the curse by seeking out the Earl of Norcroft.

I laughed throughout the story. There is the time when The Earl thinks Lady Kathleen is down on her luck and gives her four shillings. I especially loved when Oliver tries to run away and everything conspires against his escape. The flying shingles and sinking boat had me in stitches.

Witchcraft played a part in the story from beginning to end. All the sub characters dabbled in it without the knowledge of Oliver or Kathleen. I thought Oliver would lay an egg when he found out about his mother and Uncle Malcolm and their dabblings.

To see Kathleen's plan unfold even though she did not know what she had planned to do and the reactions of Oliver were great. His denials and then acceptance of Kathleen's place in his life is very well written. I loved the sexual tension between them and enjoyed how they came together.

This is the last book of the Seduction Series by Ms. Alexander and I can say that you do not need to read the previous books to enjoy this one. This is the first book I read in this series and find that I will now look for the others since I enjoyed this one so much.
