Between running a diner, refereeing her employees, and pretending she’s not in love with best friend Todd Chambers, Shelby Winters has enough on her plate. But when she receives flowers from an anonymous admirer and dinner invitations from her other best friend, Kevin Grady, she can’t pass up the tempting opportunity to infuse her life with a little fun. Unfortunately, her new life is alienating Todd. Is Shelby’s new joie de vie enough to give her the courage to confess her true feelings? Or will her inherent shyness leave her at a table for one?
Made to Order is one of the latest in the Flower Basket series. A best friends’ romance, it's sweet and gentle with just enough sensuality to get the blood flowing.
Shelby Winters owns the diner, Shelby's Place. She has two best guy friends: Todd Chambers and Kevin Grady. She has feelings for Todd and his dark poet eyes. Todd likes Shelby too, but in many ways he’s taken her for granted and assumed she'd always be there. Then their other friend Kevin asks Shelby out on a real date which sets Todd into motion of wooing Shelby himself.
This is a short story full of great, likable characters. Johanna Riley has an inviting writing style that makes the pages zip by. It’s easy to identify with Shelby. She’s been in love with her best friend since she was a kid. Now she’s tired of waiting and wondering. It was great fun to watch Todd get a fire lit under him to reveal his soul to the girl who’s always had his heart.
Sweet, cute story, terrific writing style--what's not to like? This is the kind of story to just sit back and relax with. Looking to sigh with a sweet romance? Get lost in Shelby and Todd's story.
