A successful veterinarian, Kaitlyn thought she was content with her life. That is, until she turns thirty and realizes that her current 'boy toy' is simply not the father material she was looking for. As her biological clock ticks loudly in her ear, both her 'toy' and fate strongly disagree.
But something happens and over the next several days, she starts traveling between her birthdays of an altered present and those of her past, leaving her more confused than ever. With the help of a kindly old custodian named Frank, Kaitlyn comes to terms with her feelings for Dustin. And can Dustin Time quiet the ticking she's trying so desperately to ignore?
What a rush this book was. Dustin Time by June Kramin was a truly entertaining read! A sucker for time travel books, I had to check this one out. Have you ever seen The Butterfly Effect? This book reminded me of that movie. The heroine, Kaitlyn, keeps waking up in her past, but a different past each time, an altered past, based on the decisions she made in a previous bout of time travel. She leaves on her thirtieth birthday, only to awaken anywhere between twenty-five and thirty years of age, and one very interesting trip back to when she was seventeen.
What is the common denominator here? Dustin, a totally lovable, sexy, younger man that she's dating. She's prepared to dump him because he's five years younger than she is, and she wants to get more serious with her life.
These trips back in time teach her some surprising things about the 'boy toy' she was about to dump. Her revelations come during a wild ride back into the past. The book is filled with humor and steamy attraction between the very likeable veterinarian Kaitlyn and Dusty, a man still trying to follow his calling.
One day, she wakes up and is married to Dusty, and they have a baby! The next, she's back in her college dorm room. Several surprising things happen and had me turning pages to see what was going to happen next. It's a fast-moving book.
The time frames begin to blend. Her real life rewrites itself, and it's fascinating. The suspense is kept up. With all she's learning about Dusty, will she still dump him?
She keeps falling in love with him over and over but then during one trip back meets a version of Dusty she doesn't like. Will she be trapped with this one? There are so many altered futures, I couldn't stand waiting to see how the story would end!
To find out what happens to these memorable characters, check out this great book. I will definitely look for more work from this author.
