The fight for mankind’s existence begins with…two halves of a perfect whole.
Born one half of a perfect pair, Kal has spent his life believing his other half is gone. But when fate thrusts Isabelle into his arms, he will have no choice but to become the man he was destined to be. That is, if he can battle his own demons first.
Not willing to accept her heritage as an Outsider, Isabelle tries to hide from the truth. But when Kal’s life is on the line, she will have to step forward and embrace her powers or watch everything she has come to love disappear.
The fight for good and evil has been going on for many years. Humans are not the only beings that inhabit this world. The beings that call themselves the Outsiders have fought on the side of good since they can remember, yet they have become complacent. Now evil has gained a foothold in our world. The prophecy of the elder is coming true and the children must all unite to fight and try to win against the evil. Only a handful of the children have found each other. They must search for the others who do not even know that they are special but are desperately needed if good is to win this fight. Will the children find each other before evil wins out or are we all doomed?
This was an interesting story that had me from the very start. Kal is a strong alpha hero who loves his family and will do anything to protect them. He's a bit demanding and controlling, but he shows what a heart he has when he meets Isabelle. She is a smart woman who takes whatever life throws at her with class. As she builds her relationship with Kal and the others she begins to find and use her own powers. The love that they all share is a wonderful read, especially the family bond that we see come out when they need it the most.
This story was well written and a wonderful start to what seems to be a new series. I cannot wait to read what will become of all the Outsiders. Rebecca Royce is a great writer and I am always excited to hear when she has a new book out. Whether it is her Werewolves or her Outsiders I am never disappointed.
