Isabelle Trinidad vows no man will ever rope her into the humdrum life of a housewife and take away her dreams of becoming the National Barrel Racing Champion, like her father did to her mother. Her mind is set, until a handsome Yankee comes to down and upsets everything she has believed.

Arson brings State Fire Marshal Warner Keyson to Wayback, but a wildfire of a woman stops him in his tracks. Intrigued by Isabelle’s fire, he contrives ways to keep her close during his investigation. What they create together is the blaze of a lifetime.

My-oh-my, do they make things hot in Wayback or what? This isn’t my first journey to the Texas town, and you can guarantee after reading the newest story, Obsessed By Wildfire, it won’t be my last.

From the moment the sassy cowgirl Isobel Trinidad meets the gorgeous Fire Marshall Warner Keyson, sparks ignite. He’s a city boy who prefers baseball caps to Stetsons, while she’s the kind of girl who isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty. The differences are not lost on the reader, but rather than providing a barrier to keep the protagonists apart, they allow the characters room to shine. I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes in which you get an idea of the way they defer, yet find common ground.

Due to mind-blowing chemistry and fantastic dialogue, the sex scenes positively sizzle. The best kind of stories occur when the protagonists aren’t sure of anything but their attraction and allow desire to overcome everything else. You get plenty of that and then some, and the slow burn, combined with the building simmer, will ensure you wilt and melt in your favorite reading chair. The mystery involving a rash of fires in the vicinity adds a bit of tension, while Isobel’s tendency to pull away from men versus trusting them provides the necessary conflict. You’ll laugh, you’ll wriggle and squirm, and when things get dangerously hot, you’ll hover on the edge of your seat.

Fans of the Wayback series will love Obsessed By Wildfire. Be sure to pencil this delightful, yet steamy, story onto your must read list.

Well done on winning the Book of the Week slot - the contest added a bit of interest to a rainy weekend here in London :-)
