There’s no room in her life for love. Love has other ideas…

Konigsburg, Texas, Book 3

If Jessamyn Carroll had only herself to consider, staying in Pennsylvania after her husband’s death would have been a no-brainer. Her vindictive in-laws’ efforts to get their hooks into her infant son, however, force her to flee to a new home. Konigsburg, Texas.

Peace…at least for now. She’s even found a way to make some extra money, looking after sexy accountant Lars Toleffson’s precocious two-year-old daughter. She finds it easy—too easy—to let his protective presence lull her into thinking she and her son are safe at last.

Lars, still wounded from enduring a nasty divorce from his cheating ex-wife, tries to fight his attraction to the mysterious, beautiful widow. But when an intruder breaks into her place, and Jess comes clean about her past, all bets are off. Someone wants her baby—and wants Jess out of the picture. Permanently.

Now Jess has a live-in bodyguard, whether she wants him or not. Except she does want him—and he wants her. Yet negotiating a future together will have to overcome a lot of roadblocks: babies, puppies, the entire, meddling Toleffson family—and a kidnapper.

Be My Baby will capture your heart, wreak havoc with your emotions, and keep you on the edge of your seat.

The very first paragraph had me grinning – our hero, Lars, is at the Dew Drop Inn drinking a beer…with oatmeal in his hair. That first impression really drew me to Lars, a single father who is trying to do the best he can for his daughter. Although he’s considered predictable by most, I found him to be more comfortable in his own element than anything else. One the other hand, the heroine, Jess, is anything but comfortable in her element. On the run from crazed in-laws who want her son, she only wants to find a place to settle down and feel safe.

It should be stated that the premise seems rather simplistic on the surface, but it isn’t at all. When things start go sour and you’re introduced to Jess’s former mother-in-law – The Ice Queen, no less – you’ll think you have all your eggs in one basket. However, nothing is as it appears, and I can guarantee you won’t see what’s coming. Of course, the emerging romance between Jess and Lars will keep you guessing too. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a story that had this much sexual tension between protagonists. They want each other, but due to past betrayal and heartache, refuse to give in. When they finally cave and embrace their feelings, the outcome is explosive.

Tight writing and a fantastic narrative make this story not only enjoyable, but something I’d recommend to others who love a good, solid romance. While I haven't read the preceding stories that occur prior to Be My Baby, I fully intend to. The Toleffson brothers are a fascinating group of men, and the women they love are equally memorable. I was particularly drawn to the dark and mysterious Erik. I hope he has his own story in the works.

Don’t forget to pencil this one onto your TBR list. I thoroughly enjoyed Be My Baby, and can’t wait to read the previous (and future) stories in the series.
