Crisscross (noun): A web of deceit entangling a bestselling author and her small son, two ex-lovers, and a killer with a knack for cruciverbalism and a thirst for revenge.

A psychic, and skeptic, and serial killer… Lia Morgan has seen portents and signs since she was a teenager; however, few people believed her, including her own family. Although estranged, Lia travels across country to aid in the search for her missing sister, Sylvie. What seems to be a simple case gets complicated fast when Lia discovers her sister had a plethora of secrets, including a small son. Is her sister running from an impending paternity case like the police assume, or is her disappearance the work of a serial killer as her friends suspect?

An anthropologist and crossword puzzle fanatic, Jared Trimble is a packrat with a PhD. His world is grounded in the here and now, with no room for paranormal mumbo-jumbo. When Jared's asked to work as a consultant on a missing person's case involving a series of crossword puzzle clues, he's conflicted. One part's thrilled. The other part is suspicious; worried he fits the description of suspect more than investigator. All that is forgotten when he realizes his ex-lover, Lia Morgan, is the missing woman’s sister. While Lia follows signs and portents, Jared uses his wits and experience. When the two collide, nearly forgotten passions flare. As the final clue is revealed, the solution brings them both into the bull’s-eye of the serial killer's target.

Combining a web of lies, missing mother and her son, ex-lovers, a criminal who leaves clues in puzzles, a psychic, skeptic and serial killer and you will get Crisscross, the new paranormal suspense novel by Ericka Scott. A complex storyline rich with vivid images, Crisscross deliveries the reader a suspenseful tale that will keep you reading until the very end.

Upon reading the blurb, I jumped at the opportunity to read this novel. A heroine, Lia, with psychic visions, and the hero, Jared, a packrat with a PhD who doesn’t believe in receiving visions, but can’t deny his overwhelming attraction to Lia.

So enters our heroine, the caring and psychic Lia Morgan. After ignoring a vision which ultimately caused her parents’ deaths, she becomes estranged from her sister. But just when she thinks she will never see her sister again, she receives the one phone call she’d never anticipated: her sister and her sister’s son are missing. Not only has Lia not heard from her sister in years, but she had no idea she had a nephew, much less that they were missing.

The tall and handsome Doctor Jared Trimble lives his life, never quite able to forget the passion he’d shared with Lia Morgan years ago before she disappeared from his life. But when Jared is called in to help with the investigation, he runs into the one person he never thought he’d see again, Lia.

Now that we have a great plot line, conflict and hot sexual tension, the story needs atmosphere and a diabolic villain that will make your skin crawl. The vivid images Lia sees in her visions add mood and suspense, giving Crisscross a unique feel, while the killer steps up and deliveries a heart-pounding performance.

Crisscross deliveries a satisfying story, complete with heart-pounding suspense, jalapeƱo hot love, and finally serves a satisfying conclusion you’ll never see coming. Don’t miss out on this guilty pleasure! Wonderful job, Ms. Scott!
