Between her eyes and his ears, there’s a world of sensory overload…

Sensory Ops, Book 1

Rookie FBI Agent Kieralyn Beckett is in a delicate position. Her team refuses to buy into her theory that a string of kidnappings is connected. If she pushes too hard, they’ll discover the latest victim was her college roommate and boot her off the case. A garbled recording is the only evidence, and there’s only one man who can decipher it. The hard part will be convincing him to take the case.

Blinded as a child, NSA “listener” Ian Cabrera spends the majority of his time analyzing data while secretly searching for his father, a missing CIA operative. His plate is full, but Kieralyn’s passion and determination, as well as the erotic beat of her heart, spark his interest. So does the mention of his father’s code name on her recording.

There’s only one way to follow this new crumb-trail of clues without tipping her off about what he’s really after. Convince her she needs him to be her undercover partner, despite his handicap. Between her eyes and his ears, they make one beautifully orchestrated team. Every time they touch, though, the arousal they generate creates one red-hot element of distraction…

Women are missing. Six women, including FBI agent Kieralyn Beckett’s best friend and college room mate Lana. Kieralyn is the only one in her unit who believes the kidnapping are linked as part of a white slavery ring.

She approaches NSA “listener” Ian Cabrera for help finding clues on a recording Lana sent to her just before she went missing. Cabrera finally agrees to listen to her recording to see if she is onto something, but once he hears it, he seems to develop his own agenda. He agrees to help her gather enough information to persuade her team that her hunch is a valid one. But both are keeping secrets: Kieralyn isn’t revealing her link to Lana, and Ian isn’t letting on the name heard on the recording is the first link in two years to his missing and presumed dead father, a CIA operative code name El Dogo. Can these two find a way to work together, in spite of the attraction simmering between them? Can Ian overcome his feeling of being less than whole because he’s blind? And can he convince Kieralyn to take a chance on him and what is there between them?

Sounds to Die By is a fast paced action story, with enough twists and surprises to satisfy any mystery fan. The strength of Kieralyn’s character is wonderful, and yet that strength is also her only weakness. She hides herself behind it, convinced if she shows how she really feels, no one will like her or respect her abilities.

I loved these characters because they aren’t perfect. Ian was blinded in a fire, while saving his sister. He has scars, both physical and emotional. But he still tries to help Kieralyn faces her insecurities and face her own set of demons.

Nikki Duncan has written a taut, fast paced story, filled with hot and heavy passion and imaginative sex, and twists and surprises that catch you when you aren’t expecting it. I will tell you this, Ms Duncan grabbed my attention in the first ten pages, and I couldn’t put this one down.

If you want a hot reading experience, with lots of action (both in the bedroom and out) this one definitely fills the bill. But beware; it is a highly charged and addictive story. If you like happy ever after that is hard one, this one will satisfy all your desires.
