Writer Lise Barton is used to coming up with wild scenarios for her characters, but the one that's playing out for her right now is no fiction. Someone is stalking her, someone who knows where she lives and what she does-who's even threatened her family. To protect them, she packs up and leaves Texas for the anonymity of Seattle-where it starts all over again.

Joshua Watt's mission is simple: Bring Lise home for Thanksgiving or he'll never hear the end of it from his sister. He's spent months trying to forget the taste of her lips, but the minute he sees the fear in Lise's eyes, the former Army Ranger takes control. His mission: Protect Lise and try to keep his personal feelings out of it. Because if there's one thing he's learned, it's that sex and work don't mix. So far.

Love doesn’t always come in the perfect form, but when it comes, hold tight and never let go. Such is the story of Lise and Joshua in Ready.

Lucy Monroe writes fun stories that tug at the heart and make you think all while reining you in for more. Her scenes are rich with description. You feel like you’re really there in the story with the characters. Although he’s a mercenary and she’s a multi-published author, they go through the process of falling in love and learning to trust like everyone else. The reader can relate to them.

Lise and Joshua shared a searing kiss in the past, but now she’s running from him and a stalker. Joshua needs to convince her to let him protect her and maybe rekindle the passion. I liked Joshua because he’s tough, yet when she needs tender, he delivers. I also love a hero who isn’t deterred when he’s verbally shot down by a woman. Lise was great because she’s equally tough and determined. I liked that she gave Joshua a run for his money both in between and out of the sheets.

If you want a sexy read, then the first of the trilogy, Ready is the novel for you. I give this work 5 books.
