What happens when the good girl art professor decides she wants to unleash her inner bad girl? She runs into the ultimate bad boy hell bent on becoming a good man. Sounds like time for the ultimate Body Check.
Hayden Houston hates hockey. She watched her father coach hockey all through her formative years. The last thing she wants is to hook up with a hockey player. Brody Croft, a professional hockey player sees it differently. He can’t get enough of Hayden.
I liked how Ms. Kennedy used humor and a bit of insecurity on the part of Hayden to drive the story. The book zips along, keeping the reader engaged well beyond the last page. Hayden knows what she wants; she just has to convince her heart and mind to agree. I loved Brody’s alpha male: tall, dark, handsome, with a couple of well-placed tattoos. He makes me want to start watching hockey.
I also liked that Ms. Kennedy’s novel was original. It can be easy to make the blinding lights of fame become the villain, but not so with Body Check. The villain is real and redeemable, which endeared the character to me.
If you want a sport themed romance, complete with a hunky hero and a funky heroine, then Body Check is the novel you’re looking for. I give this novel 5 books.
