Book Two in the Douglas Family Series
Driver Jamie LeCorre, competing in the male dominated Stock Car Racing field, needs a tape that will exonerate her from a deadly crash. Weary of dealing with domineering, chauvinistic males, she is suddenly attracted to just such a man. A man who can get her tape.
Quint Douglas has sworn off high profile, overly intelligent women. He discovers the blond bimbo of his dreams trying to change a flat on a pink BMW. Offering help, he uses a bit too much attitude and is shot down. Yet, Quint still tries to win her over in spite of his deep-seated fear of speed.
Together they enter the tight knit Stock Car Racing world to investigate an old murder, a new body, and a highway collision-all tied together with too many suspects. Quint tries to keep Jamie from being the next victim even as she races around the track at 180 miles an hour, pursued by those who would like to see her eliminated, in more ways than one.
Stupendous! Sizzling suspense carries this sassy love story along at super speed. Quinton Douglas, quiet and cautious after a failed relationship, gets himself mired in a mess of his own making when he propositions Jamie LeCorre, the NASCAR driver. His not knowing who she is but wanting to be with her sends them both on the emotional ride of their lives. The reader is swept into the action and propelled along vicariously at breathtaking speed through physical and emotional curves and straight-aways.
Jannifer Hoffman creates wonderful characters – so alive. Whether bad or good, they interact to make Secret Sacrifices vibrate with mystery and suspense as each adds a new facet to the plot that is intricately entwined. Sweet, sensual, and sizzling sex adds another dimension to this suspenseful novel. The subplots of how some of the characters came to be as they are makes the characters seem so much more real. Smooth writing that doesn’t get in the way of the story lets the reader race along with just enough mundane happenings to allow a breather before the action and suspense kick in to overdrive again.
Secret Sacrifices is a keeper. GOOD READING!
