Toni Davis's Christmas wish list
1. Springing my best friend from the psych ward.
2. Living somewhere that doesn't have coffins in the basement. Occupied coffins.
3. Finding Mr. Right. Please make him tall, dark, handsome, and alive.
This Christmas isn't so merry for Toni. Her best friend's been locked up in a mental hospital ever since she told the police she was attacked by vampires, and the only way for Toni to get her out is to prove that bloodsuckers really do exist. So she's taken a job as a bodyguard for the Undead, but she gets more than she bargained for, especially when she meets Ian MacPhie, a Scottish rascal looking for Ms. Right.
Although Ian's nearly five centuries old, he looks and acts like a twenty-seven-year-old hunk.
How can a dead man be so damn sexy? Could Mr. Wrong be Mr. Right? One forbidden kiss could lead to an eternity of passion—and all it takes is one moment under the mistletoe . . .
All I Want For Christmas Is A Vampire is the fifth book in Ms. Sparks Love at Stake series and I for one am glad that it has finally arrived. I love the characters and can’t wait to find out more about each and every one of them.
Ian MacPhie grows up twelve years in twelve days, going from fifteen to twenty-seven years of age, when he returns from Texas after taking Romanetic’s stay awake drug. Ian is completely changed physically and women notice him everywhere. Ian wants to find a nice vampire girl to settle down with and enlists the help of one of his friends. After she writes a personal profile for Ian and posts it on the internet, the women flock to him in droves. I love the group of women that stake out the mansion trying to speak with Ian. What I think makes the story even cuter is that Ian is drawn to the new bodyguard, Toni, who’s human.
Toni Davis has her own agenda to follow and doesn’t want to have anything to do with vampires in general and Ian MacPhie in particular. I found Toni to be a very strong woman. The way she went into the lions’ den, so to speak, to get information to help her friend showed true loyalty. Especially when Toni herself was attacked by Malcontents. I could see how Toni slowly grew through the story from hating vampires and wanting proof to caring for vampires and hating Malcontents. Her fascination with Ian and the ways she tries to avoid him but continually loses are funny. From removing his shoes to covering him while he “sleeps”, her caring shows in every gesture.
Not only do Ian and Toni have each others wariness to contend with but there is also a little no fraternization rule that can cause Toni to be fired and her memory to be wiped. I loved how what each wanted was right under their noses. The pages sizzled when Ian and Toni finally get together.
I found All I Want For Christmas Is a Vampire to be a fantastic story about a hot, sexy, vampire in a kilt. That’s all I’d want for Christmas. I hope you feel the same about this "cuddle up on your couch in front of a fire and wish for him" story.
