A Stranger’s Bed – The Delaney Series
by Sophia Rae
Two strangers find something they had no idea they were looking for.
To clear her head and possibly figure out her life’s path, Chloe Adkins sets out on a road trip. A summer storm forces an unplanned stop, and she is suddenly side-tracked by the hot B&B owner.
Marcus Delaney doesn’t have time for a relationship. He’s trying to keep his family-owned business from financial failure. But when his soft and sexy guest suggests a no strings weekend, how can he say no?
How is it possible to find love when you’re desperately trying to hold your life together? That is the question Marcus and Chloe both find the answer to in this sweet, yet hot love story. This relatively swift read had all the elements of a good love story, and makes you smile at the end.
Chloe is an emotionally wounded young woman who is subconsciously looking for a place to heal, although she’s not fully aware of that aspect in her wandering ways. On a stormy night she finds herself on the doorstep of a bed and breakfast that is full of warmth and built by love. The place, and the man residing there along with his family, make her feel as if she finally belongs somewhere. Too bad she’s too stubborn to fully grasp the possibilities.
Marcus is the extremely sensual, tough and indomitable man who runs the Delaney Bed and Breakfast, a family establishment his parents started before their untimely deaths several years before. It was his parents’ dream to have the house filled with happy guests, and Marcus is struggling to keep the dream alive. He is under the mistaken impression that his problems preclude him from a serious relationship, so he’s not looking for a committed relationship. What, then, is he supposed to do when he meets Chloe and finds he can’t imagine his life without her in it?
Despite the story, there was a minor bump along the way: I felt that the conclusion was a bit rushed, which can sometimes happen with a shorter story. It didn’t detract too much from the story, so I only mention it as a slight warning. We get our desired Happily Ever After, and the extra push doesn’t ruin the story beyond a minor mention in this review.
This was a charming love story that had some seriously sizzling love scenes as well as emotional breakthroughs. I enjoyed the natural sensuality of the two characters, and the fact that they couldn’t seem to keep away from each other, despite what they told themselves was “for the best”. Add to that the other two Delaneys and you have a fabulous story that has you looking forward to the next installments of the Delaney story.
