HIGH STAKES
by J. T. Schultz
Two years ago, Colby McCormick deserted his love, Danni, for a promising career in Las Vegas and never looked back. In town for a funeral, he’s determined to explain his actions to Danni and regain her affections.
Danielle Shelton has tried without success to mend her broken heart since being left at the altar on their wedding day. Hearing Colby say that he still loves her is too much too handle.
Secrets have kept them apart for too long. Colby and Danni wonder if the love they still feel is worth the high stakes of the truth.
HIGH STAKES is a heart-felt love story that brings to the glaring light the fear of honest communication where affairs of the heart are involved.
This short, sweet romance story shows true love enduring against tremendous odds. The sadness of both the heroine and the hero touches the heart making this reader want to say to them, “Put you pride aside and trust your heart”. But it’s another’s meddling that set their misery in motion initially, so probably ‘tis best this reader cannot meddle.
Even though this story is short, and would have been stronger had it been longer, it affirms “True Love Endures” and the happy-ever-after brings satisfaction.
